What/Why? National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is an exciting, biennial three-day experience of prayer, community and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones (plus a day of travel). The schedule includes general sessions and workshops addressing a wide variety of topics as well as opportunities for reconciliation, daily liturgy and special activities such as concerts, a dance, and comedy club. The thematic park is a unique venue incorporating traditional exhibits with interactive, educational and recreational activities. Who? High school students 9-12th grades of the 2015-2016 school year (currently 8th-11th grade)
When? Thursday- Sunday, November 19-22, 2015 (Conference: Thursday-Saturday, travel home Sunday)
Where? Indianapolis, Indiana – Lucas Oil Stadium
STA Students interested in attending are encouraged to talk with their Parish Youth Minister and inquire whether or not parish will attend NCYC. If your parish does not have a group attending, STA will have a delegation attending. A parent/student meeting will be held Tuesday, March 31st 7-8pm in the Board Room of St. Thomas Aquinas. Discussion will include expectations, travel, itinerary and chaperones, and fundraising if needed.
If attending with STA – COST: $500.00 includes bus transportation, conference registration, hotel accommodations (4 to a room), t-shirt or sweatshirt, trade items, breakfast at hotel and pizza one night. Chaperones attending cost is $575.
Non-Refundable deposit of $100 due April 13th to be made out to
St. Thomas Aquinas.
2nd payment due in June 11th.
Balance due August 13th.
NCYC is not a “field trip or vacation” it’s a pilgrimage. We are on a journey together and in order to prepare for the pilgrimage, students will need to attend a couple of meetings before the conference with rest of Diocesan Delegation ~ one in October (TBA) and November 8th 2pm-6pm in Youngstown for the Send Off Meeting and Liturgy with Bishop Murry.
